Narrabri Shire Council yesterday met representatives of the Narrabri Public School to hear their concerns about the proposed change to the Barwan Street-Doyle street intersection configuration.

Narrabri Shire Council yesterday met representatives of the Narrabri Public School to hear their concerns about the proposed change to the Barwan Street-Doyle street intersection configuration.

Narrabri Shire Council has reaffirmed its plan to swap the Stop signs on the Barwan Street and Doyle Street intersection in Narrabri.

However, the council has allowed time for NSW Police and the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) to appeal to the Regional Traffic Committee against the decision before it is implemented.

World class boxing event for Narrabri

World class boxing event for Narrabri

Crowd favourite: Locally-trained Joebert Delos Reyes, left, is hitting Narrabri’s Anytime Fitness this week as he prepares for Saturday’s fight night in town. He is pictured with former Australian and Pan-Asian cruiserweight champion, Daniel Rowsell, trainer Richard Dumaluan and ITC National’s Ben Finnegan.

Momentum is building towards this weekend’s boxing extravaganza, as the Narrabri’s Crossing Theatre prepares to host another huge fight night.

Coined the ‘Battle in the Bri’, this year’s event is expected to be even bigger than the last, with five pro fights arranged, two of which are WBA title belt bouts.

That should draw an international audience, with all the action in the purpose-built ring being beamed live all around the world via the internet come this Saturday night.
