'Barrier to entry' removed as Narrabri to Sydney air route deregulated

'Barrier to entry' removed as Narrabri to Sydney air route deregulated

By Kerrin Thomas ABC News

The New South Wales Government has deregulated the Narrabri to Sydney air route, removing a perceived barrier to a new airline coming in to provide flights.

Commercial passenger flights between Sydney and Narrabri ceased in May last year when Vincent Aviation went into receivership.

Narrabri Shire Council has since moved to offer financial incentives including subsidies to entice an airline to fly the route but despite discussions with a number of operators no airline has been secured.
