Two air services bidding for route

Two air services bidding for route

Two operators have so far confirmed they are keen to provide the Narrabri to Sydney air service.

A Narrabri Shire Council advertisement calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) in the route was published on Friday.

Potential air service providers have until August 31 to lodge their submissions.

Scone-based air charter operator Airspeed Aviation has announced its bid.

And JetGo Airlines has confirmed its interest.

Airspeed Aviation director and chief pilot, Ben Wyndham, said the new air service, North West Airlines, would be based in Narrabri if successful.

Namoi comes out on top in a seven-goal thriller

Namoi comes out on top in a seven-goal thriller

Namoi United was celebrating for more than just one reason on Saturday.

The side not only came away with their second victory of the year against Moree FC but also, more importantly, climbed over Moree and out of last position on the Northern Inland Premier League (NIPL) Southern Conference ladder.

The visiting Moree men made Namoi work hard for the crucial three points, pushing the side right to the end in a 4-3 finish in favour of the Namoi Carps.

The weekend’s win has Carps looking likely to have pulled off another great escape and avoid the wooden-spoon for a second year running, with just two games left of the season.

Boars lose battle but not the war

Boars lose battle but not the war

Narrabri secure back-to-back minor premierships despite dropping first game of season.

The Narrabri Blue Boars perfect run this season may have been cut short in the very last regular Central North fixture on the weekend, however it sets up an enthralling couple of weeks of rugby as finals time begins to heat up.

Whilst Moree Bulls came away victorious on Dangar Park last Saturday, it wasn’t enough to stop the home side from securing another minor premiership and another major semi-final at home, courtesy of picking up two crucial bonus points during the game.

That was down to the Boars second-half comeback, which saw them finish with four tries and keep the game to within a seven-point contest.

One in six drivers test positive to drugs

A random drug testing operation conducted in Narrabri from July 15 to 18 found that 10 out of 29 drivers tested for illicit drugs returned positive results.

A random drug testing operation conducted in Narrabri from July 15 to 18 found that 10 out of 29 drivers tested for illicit drugs returned positive results.

The results were listed as part of a random drug testing operation in rural NSW where, overall, one in six drivers tested positive for illicit drugs.

Police are warning road users of the dangers of drug driving.

While random breath testing for alcohol across NSW had an arrest rate of one for every 288 tests, the number of arrests for positive drug testing in rural NSW was one in six, a shocking revelation that should concern not only drivers and passengers, but their families and other road users, Deputy Commissioner, Specialist Operations, Catherine Burn said.
